ImaT - Image Titler is an app. for adding titles to images. This is the Help document for ImaT - Image Titler.

Menus

File

The File Menu contains four items, Open, Save, Titles & Exit.

Open

Opens an image, ready to have titles added.

Save

Saves the image with titles.

Titles

The Titles menu contains two items: Export & Import.

Export

Saves the current titles to disk, for later use.

Import

Opens titles from disk, for use on the current image.

Exit

Exit's the ImaT - Image Titler software.

Information

The Information menu has two items, About & Help.

About

Pops a dialog giving the application title, vendor and version.

Help

You're looking at it! Opens this page in the default browser.

Titles List and controls

The Titles list and its associated controls preovide a List of Titles as well as buttons to add or delete titles to/from the list.

Title List

The Title List shows the titles currently added to the image. Select any title in the list to have it opened in the Image Title Edit component. The Image View will scroll it to a visible region, if it is currently 'off-screen'.

Add

The Add title button adds a new, default title to the list, selects it and opens it in the Image Title Edit component.

Delete

The Delete title button deletes the currently selected titles from the Title List.

Image View

The Image View component shows as much of the current image as will fit, unscaled, within the viewable area assigned to it (maximize the window to minimize scrolling!).

Image Title Editor

Allows editing and fine-tuning of the title text, location, colors and other details. See the Image Title editor component for further details.

Status Message

The status message at the bottom of the ImaT - Image Titler interface provides feedback and help.

.imt Format

The .imt (Image Titles) format is intended to be simple and transparent. Basically it consists of a ZIP archive that contains an array of titles in the image-titles.xml.

The archive uses standard compression. The image-titles.xml is XML whos format is determined by the Java based XMLEncoder semantics.

The image-titles.xml consists of the XML representations of Java beans. Thes objects are represented by a single array of ...Titles.

Image Sequence - Titler (ISe-T)

The Image Sequence Titler provides functionality to add titles and captions to groups of images captured in ImaT - Image Titler.

Output Forms

Ultimately you will want to convert the .ist files to a more common type of animation. We provide means to convert the sequences to GIF & MOV.

GIFanim

GIFanim will turn a sequence of images into an animated GIF. GIF's are especially good for web pages and documentation.

MovieMaker

MovieMaker will turn image sequences into JPEG based MOV files.
